President Ruto Flies to Germany For a Two-day Official Trip

President William Ruto will fly out of the Country on Thursday evening 12th September 2024 for a two-day official visit to Germany aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and Germany.

As stated by State House Spokesperson Mr. Hussein Mohammed, President Ruto is scheduled to participate in and deliver a speech at the 2024 “Bürgerfest” festival, which carries the theme “Pamoja – Stronger Together.”

The festival is officially scheduled for 13th and 14th September 2024 in Germany.

“This partnership offers a unique platform to showcase Kenya’s rich cultural heritage to the German public. Cultural exchange has been the cornerstone of our connection, with institutions like the Goethe-Institut in Nairobi playing a crucial role in promoting German culture in Kenya since 1963,” Hussein Mohammed said in the briefing.

“The Citizen’s Festival will significantly raise the visibility of Kenyan culture in Germany, fostering greater appreciation and understanding while promoting tourism and cultural exchanges,” he added.

He added that the visit by President Ruto will promote investment opportunities in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and the creative economy, positioning Kenya as a prime destination for German investors.

According to Hussein Mohammed President Ruto will also hold bilateral discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on matters deepening cooperation on areas of mutual interest.

He will also hold discussions with leading German business figures including CEOs of major companies such as Mercedes Benz, YouTube, and AIDA Cruises centred on augmenting trade and investment opportunities.

Hussein Mohammed indicated that Germany stands as the foremost foreign direct investor in Kenya, evidenced by the establishment of more than 100 German companies within the nation, which collectively contribute investments worth Ksh.150 billion.
