The President has nominated Dr. Amani Yuda Komora, MBS, CHRP, as the new Chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), in a move expected to bolster leadership and accountability within the country’s policing oversight body.
The announcement was made through an official press release issued by the Executive Office of the President, detailing the appointments made under the powers conferred by Article 250(2)(b) of the Constitution and in accordance with Section 9(5) of the National Police Service Commission Act.
Dr. Komora, who hails from Tana River County, is the immediate former Vice-Chairperson of the Public Service Commission.
He previously held senior human resource positions at the Kenya Revenue Authority and served as Secretary to the National General Wages Council.
Dr. Komora holds a Doctorate in Human Resources Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Alongside Dr. Komora’s nomination, the President also named Ms. Angeline Yiamiton Siparo, to serve as a member of the Commission.
Ms. Siparo,has been the coordinator of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Legacy Localization Projects across 49 countries and the Chairperson of the National Aids Control Council (2016-2022).
She also served in Oxford HR (AU/Africa CDC) Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), Population Reference Bureau, UNAIDS, Futures Group International and Family Health International (FHI).
The nominations followed the recommendation of the Selection Panel established to recruit candidates for the Chairperson and Member positions, in line with Kenya Gazette Notice No. 1181.If approved by Parliament, the new composition of the Commission will be as follows:

The National Police Service Commission is constitutionally mandated to recruit, appoint, promote, and discipline police officers, as well as to oversee transfers and ensure compliance with professional standards across Kenya’s police service.
According to the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei, the appointments are aimed at reinforcing the Commission’s capacity to deliver on its mandate and advance ongoing reforms in the security sector.
The nominees will now await parliamentary vetting and approval before formally taking up their positions.
