“I have heard you, and I have heard you clearly,” Said President Ruto

President Ruto has proposed amendments to the Evidence Act, the Criminal Procedure Code and other statutes relating to corruption to expedite the investigation and prosecution of corruption cases in the next 60 days.

Additionally, he recommended the amendment of the Witness Protection Act to safeguard whistleblowers and to enhance witness protection for easy reporting of corrupt individuals and criminals.

The president has also recommended amendments to the Public Finance Management Act and the Public Procurement and Disposal Act within the next 90 days and to introduce a digital framework within 6 months to provide a transparent public procurement platform that will ensure a transparent procurement process.

The president has also engaged the parliament to make sure it passes the Conflict of Interest Bill granting him the authority to reject bills that do not meet anti-corruption standards.

Furthermore, he has also directed law enforcement agencies to provide a clear timeline to the public for investigations and prosecution of all active corruption cases.

Lastly, President Ruto has pledged to collaborate with parliament to establish a transparent framework that will ensure accountability in the process of tax expenditure while at the same time making laws that limit the import of locally manufactured goods to increase employment in the country through value addition, manufacturing and industrialization.
