President Ruto Unveils 2nd Batch of CS Nominees

Speaking during a press briefing at the statehouse, Nairobi, today, the President has named his second batch of nominated cabinet secretaries.

The President dissolved his Cabinet on July 11 following a series of anti-government protests.

John Mbadi, a Nominated Member of Parliament and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman, has been nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning ministry.

Salim Mvurya, who previously served as the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs CS has been nominated as the CS for the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.

Rebecca Miano, who was initially reappointed as the Attorney-General nominee last week, has been assigned to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Opiyo Wandayi, the National Assembly Minority Leader, has been nominated for the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Former Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho has been appointed to the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.

Kipchumba Murkomen, the former Transport CS, has been nominated to lead the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.

Alfred Mutua, the former Tourism CS, has been given the Labour and Social Protection docket.

Wycliffe Oparanya has been nominated for the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development.

Justin Muturi, the former Attorney-General, is set to head the Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development.

Stella Lagat to take over the Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage docket.

Soipan Tuya has been appointed to head the Defence Ministry, while Aden Duale will head the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry as announced yesterday.
