PROBE FOR DEATHS OF INFANTS STARTS AS MCA WALKS OUT OF MEETING AND JOURNALISTS BARRED FROM COVERING THE PROCEEDINGS

Some members of the health committee walked out of the meeting when the health management were summoned to shed light of the seven infants who died at Baringo county referal hospital.

During the grilling, the media were not allowed to cover the proceedings as the health management who had been summoned also lacked records to furnish the committee with information surrounding the mysterious death of the infants at the facility.

The members of the health committee who walked out cited that the committee chair had lacked commitment to furnish the public with the truth and seems to be have been compromised by the executive.

After the media highlighted the case last week, the health committee promised to furnish the public with information within a week only for the members to develop cold feet after the truth emerged of the information of the infant deaths.

Earnest Kibet said the Governor should be impeached for failing to provide leadership in health as he has been unable to manage critical sector such as health. The chair of health, Richard Rono said the committee is laying ground for grilling despite assuring the public to bring the facts within a week. He said the management of the hospital came without documents hence the committee could not be able to commence the grilling. The exercise looked as a public relation.

The mysterious death of babies raised out roar from members of the public after one parent confessed to have been forced to sign a consent form of death of his baby. Noor Oduor claimed to have seen other six bodies of babies at the facility, something the health management disputed only for them to send conflicting reports with the health committee claiming three, the hospital management claiming one while the hospital board claiming five.
