The CS nominee for Interior and National Administration Prof.Kithure Kindiki  has vowed to intensify Anti-Corruption efforts in National security upon approval by the National Assembly.

He was vetted on Friday 1st August 2024 by Parliament Committee chaired by the Hon. Speaker after he was nominated by President for the same docket after cabinet secretaries dismissal by President Ruto.

“If I’m reappointed, I’m going to escalate programs, policies and measures to eradicate corruption within the organs of the National Security that are within the Ministry of Interior but also propose for the rest of the country, government and public sector measures that can help us secure the country,” Prof Kindiki said.

“It is no longer about an issue of Corruption by the Police, but Corruption being able to threaten the future of this Country.”

The nominee highlighted the issuance of birth certificate and promised the vetting Committee to speed up the process of application and time frame of issuance.

“A death or birth certificate should be obtained the same day within 12 hours of application,” he stated.

Prof. Kindiki explained that when he came into Office, for an ordinary Kenyan to get a passport was a nightmare because of corrupt officials. He said he was able to clear a huge backlog of application and he will continue to clean up the systems to ensure Corruption will be a story of the past.

“When I assumed office, passports was a crisis like no other. We have cleared the backlog from 784,000 and today, there is no backlog. We are issuing passports within 7 days starting,” Prof. Kindiki added.

The CS nominee also emphasized his performance in the previous couple of months whereby he believes to be suitable for the position for what he achieved in 21 months before the President dismissed the whole cabinet.

“I believe I’m suitable for reappointment because, during those 21 months in office, I’ve been able to keep the country fairly safe, especially in the fight against terror and also, the crime of banditry has reduced by more than 75%,” he said to the Committee.

Today marks the beginning of the new cs nominee vetting process which is expected to end on 4th August 2024.
