The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, held a critical meeting with leaders from the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance (SUNCSA), including key organizations such as Nutrition International (NI), CARE Kenya, World Vision, and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).
The discussions centered on enhancing Kenya’s efforts to combat malnutrition and promote healthier eating habits through the Growth for Nutrition initiative.
As part of the engagement, the stakeholders explored avenues to strengthen strategic partnerships in the public health sector, particularly around the upcoming summit aimed at addressing the nation’s most pressing health challenges.
“The meeting focused on progressing Kenya’s Growth for Nutrition initiative to tackle malnutrition and foster healthier eating habits nationwide.,” stated ps Muthoni.
“Discussions included forming strategic partnerships in the public health sector and organizing an upcoming summit to address key health challenges,” she added.
Among the initiatives discussed was the Epuka Uchafu campaign, a project aimed at improving sanitation and hygiene in underserved areas across the country.
The meeting also focused on innovative solutions to ensure that remote communities in Kenya gain access to essential health services, proper sanitation, and affordable, nutritious food.
Both the Ministry and SUNCSA reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring equitable access to healthcare, underscoring the need for continued collaboration to foster a healthier and more resilient population.
