The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Ms. Muthoni on Monday 23rd December 2024 commended Community Health Promoters in Kibera.
“I visited Kibera Constituency in Nairobi to witness first hand the remarkable impact our Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are having in transforming lives at the grassroots level,” PS Muthoni said.
“Through their efforts, we are making great strides in improving disease prevention, health education, and access to the Social Health Authority (SHA) initiative,” she added.
According to the Ministry of Health Community Health Promoters (CHPs) plays a vital role in enhancing access to primary healthcare services, particularly within grassroots communities.
“The Principal Secretary for Public Health Ms. Mary Muthoni, visited Kibera Constituency in Nairobi County to assess the transformative impact of CHPs in advancing preventive healthcare, strengthening disease surveillance, and supporting the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA) initiative,” the Ministry of Health said on X.
During her visit, Ms. Muthoni interacted with Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and local residents, praising their commitment to enhancing community health and reiterating the government’s dedication to strengthening community health systems as a fundamental element in the pursuit of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The Principal Secretary also conveyed Christmas greetings to all Kenyans and provided guidance for the festive season, highlighting the significance of road safety, moderation in celebrations, and the adoption of healthy practices to prevent emergencies.
“As we approach the festive season, I want to extend my warm Christmas wishes to all Kenyans. However, I also urge everyone to prioritize health and safety during this time,” the PS stated.
She further called for community solidarity during this season of goodwill, encouraging Kenyans to support one another and remain vigilant against public health threats, including Mpox and other communicable diseases.
