Kisii county top leaders from the two levels of government have demystified Public Participation(PP) sessions scheduled to commence in the area on November 7, 2022.
The PP ,a constitutional requirement, demanded that the electorate gave their views to the authorities on the development they wanted initiated.
Addressing grass root national administration, at Kenya Institute of Highways Building Technology(KIHBT),area County Commissioner(CC), Allan Machari urged residents to turn up at the sub locations level and freely air their views.
He clarified the PP hearings were meant to contribute towards the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) for use and benefit by the area residents.
But governor Simba Arati disclosed allocations from the National Treasury were inadequate to fund development activities in the county.
A large percentage of the money was utilized in salaries and wages payment, adding he was committed to soliciting additional development funds from other sources.
No allowances will be paid to the participants of the PP sessions, he said.
The Public participation hearings in the past had been marked with poor attendance, interference by busybodies or skipped, leaving a few individuals to decide the development needs for majority residents.
