Azimio leader Raila Odinga has now come out to clear the air after photos emerged online of him and President William Ruto together in Uganda visiting the president of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Museveni.

Speaking during the second day of the Homabay investment conference, Odinga claimed that he went to Uganda to seek support from its head of state for the Africa Union Commission chairmanship that he is planning to run for.

Odinga added that he only met President Ruto there as he had also gone to talk to Museveni about oil issues between their governments.

“I went to the President of Uganda after I had talked to him to go and ask for his support. We met there with Mr Ruto who had also gone there to talk about issues they are having with oil, the G to G,” he stated.

Mr Odinga assured his supporters that he is not going anywhere and that he is just running around seeking support for his AU candidacy,” I am not going anywhere, I am around. I have been running around trying to get support from different heads of state.”

Over the past fortnight, Odinga has received unwavering support and endorsement for his AU candidature. This support has come from international figures such as former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo as well an assortment of both UDA and Azimio members.

On Monday evening photos were shared of President William Ruto and his counterpart Yoweri Museveni together with Raila Odinga discussing as they walked in a field, the pictures sparked mixed feelings amongst Kenyans.
