Raila faults deployment of GSU officers at parliament building

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy principal Raila Odinga has faulted the move by the government to deploy heavily armed General Service Unit (GSU) officers at the parliament buildings.

The Orange DemocratricMovement (ODM) chairperson termed it as “attempts to intimidate the opposition” by deploying security personnel around Parliament ahead of special session.

“I have received information that GSU personnel were deployed around Parliament as early as 6 am to scare away opposition MPs. This is unacceptable and can only be done by a regime that is in panic mode,” he said.

“We will not allow Jubilee to sneak in the Mace (the House’s symbol of authority). The only sitting that can now be properly constituted is the one at 2.30.”
