Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) through their acting party secretary general, Agnes Zani, has dismissed IPSOS poll that showed Raila is less favored by Kenyans to be the Coalition for Reconciliation and Democracy (CORD) flag bearer.
“It is so sad that IPSOS came up with unverified data but it was confident to push for a certain agenda, which everyone knows,” she said.
CORD also dismissed the new survey that suggested that most Kenyans want him to retire from Kenyan politics.
“The questions were crafted to blackmail our party leader instead of investing on issues which directly affect Kenya and leave voters to decide who is popular,” Agnes added.
The former Prime Minister claimed that the poll was driven by Jubilee campaign to ensure that he does not face President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 elections.
Raila said that Jubilee wants him out of the race but stated that it is not them who will have their final say, but CORD supporters.
The poll has drawn sharp reactions from Cord leaders, who accused polling firm Ipsos of being part of an agenda to ensure Mr Odinga does not vie for the presidency. But Ipsos leading researcher, Mr Tom Wolf, has denied the accusations.
IPSOS lead by researcher Tom Wolf has defended the firm’s methodology saying the poll was above reproach. The findings released on Tuesday showed 61 per cent Kenyans do not want Raila’s name on the ballot for the presidential vote.
The poll showed 35 per cent want the opposition leader to retire from politics while 26 per cent still want him in active politics, but not as a presidential candidate in 2017.
