Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid manger, has hailed the contribution of Cristiano Ronaldo against Legia Warsaw but admitted people expect more from the forward.
Ronaldo went into Tuesday night’s game looking for the two strikes that would take him to 100 goals in European competition, but came away empty handed as the rest of his Real Madrid team-mates put Legia to the sword to win 5-1.
The manger words after the game
“The good thing is that we made many chances to score and scored five goals,” Zidane said. “I am happy with the attacking performances. We played a very offensive XI and that meant more risks.
“Defensively, the balance of the team was not perfect sometimes. They did not really make chances, but were able to counter-attack easily sometimes.
“But that was the option taken and we played a bit more attacking today. Sunday will be another game and a different team.”
‘We always want Cristiano to score goals,’ the former France international said.
‘But he did well and created a lot of chances. He scored on Saturday and hopefully he will score again in the next match.
‘We all expect more from Cristiano and he knows that. We want him to score three or four.
‘We took some risks by playing with a very offensive system. It was expected that defensively we would have more difficulties, but we created a lot of chances in attack and that’s what we wanted.’
