RESIDENTS ACCUSE MINISTRY OF LANDS FOR FAILING TO RESOLVE LAND DISPUTE

Residents of Tugunon Settlement Scheme, Kaptenet in Kipkelion East sub-county, Kericho County have called on lands CS Faridah Karoney to visit the county in what they termed as the ministry officials have slept on the job. Led by John Kirui and Andrew Chemurwo, the residents said they have been visiting the ministry of lands for the last 15 years over land dispute in the scheme without any success. Kirui said non-governmental organization wanted to set up a store for farmers in the area but they cannot till the dispute is resolved.

He said they cannot develop the area and even the neighboring Tugunon primary school does not know its boundaries. Chemurwo said the white settlers had put up four beacons in the area which was later removed by unknown people which resulted to boundary dispute. He called on CS Karoney to crack the whip over corruption allegations in the county lands office. Efforts to reach the county lands officials for a comment  did not bear fruit.
