The supporters of the ruling UDA party today demonstrated outside Isiolo County Assembly gates protesting the nomination of a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Laikipia County to represent the marginalized groups.
An official from the party Ms. Ms. Amina Abdi Dahir alleged that Mr. Kevin Mbuthia Waruguru had contested and lost in a ward in Laikipia County.
Ms. Dahir claimed that Mr. Waruguru is a brother to a former nominated MP for Laikipia East. Waruguru was sworn in as MCA despite the youth and women vowing to go to court to block his nomination.
The party official claimed that they had presented the name of Fatuma Abdullahi to Hustler Centre but was short changed by the party cartels.
She added that the seat was to represent women folks and was supposed to go to a woman and accused former gubernatorial aspirant Mr. Hussein Tenne of the scheme to lock Fatuma Abdullahi out.
Despite demonstration outside the County Assembly gates Waruguru was the fifth to be sworn in by the clerk of County Assembly Mr. Salad Duba.
According to the County Assembly Act, no member of Assembly would be denied swearing in without a court order.
Waruguru reported to the County as early as 7.15 am and took oath of office at 10.20 am alongside all the elected and nominated members present.
