Residents in Embu town are crying foul over heaps of garbage in the area.
Addressing press the locals said the uncollected garbage now poses as a health hazard to them blaming the county government for negligence.
The locals said the heaps of uncollected garbage lie in almost all the states.
Fredrick Kimotho a businessman in Embu town blamed local leaders for laxity in addressing their issues.
He attributed the mess to corruption and disrespect of public resources.
“Our plight has fallen on deaf ears. We have complained for quite some time but nothing has been done to alleviate the situation. It is an eye sorey,” said Kimotho.
Joshua Njeru a resident of Embu town said the bad leadership that the county government has had is the cause of the problems they are going through.
Gilbert Muriuki said that Embu town was the face of the Mt Kenya East counties and it is unfortunate that those entering the county are welcomed by heaps of garbage.
“Embu public health is sleeping the heaps of garbage is worrying, “said Muriuki.
The locals have now called on the county government to take up the matter with seriousness so that their lives won’t be in risk.
