Residents Warned Against Exchanging Relief Goods For Chang’aa

Angurai Division ACC Ben Kipkorir Birechi has warned victims of storms against selling relief aid items or exchanging them with chang’aa.

Speaking at Angurai Vocational Training Institute when he accompanied the Busia governor to distribute relief food and iron sheets to over 150 affected families from Teso North sub-county, Birech said he would conduct a forensic audit to ascertain the reality on the ground.

Governor Otuoma on the other hand called on the national disaster committee to release funds to the counties already expensing floods to mitigate the situation.

The governor reiterated that the drought and flood in the country is a testimony to climate change calling on partners to fulfill their commitment to climate change.

The residents led by Pennina Nekesa are calling on DCI to investigate those who benefited from relief aids only to end up selling the items.
