Governor H.E Dr Wycliffe Oparanya has asked Deputy President H.E Dr William Ruto to respect President Uhuru Kenyatta and stop insulting him in the public.
Dr Oparanya said that continued attack on the President by his Deputy in public rallies was not good for peace and stability of the country.
“President Kenyatta is a symbol of national unity. Deputy President should set a good example as a national leader by showing unwavering respect and support for the Head of State,” said Governor Oparanya.
He pointed out that the Deputy President was putting the country in a dangerous political mood by showing open defiance against President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Governor Oparanya was speaking after a church service at ACK St Luke’s Khabukoshe in Matungu.
He later joined faithful at St Mathias Kholera Catholic church for a fundraiser.
The Governor noted that the public spat between the President and his Deputy is a recipe for chaos if not stopped.
He regretted that the two top leaders have resorted to expressing their differences in the public which is not good for the nation.
“We should learn to respect our leaders. Each country has a leader who should be respected by everybody. Leaders should show decorum and avoid engaging in words that might cause divisions in the country,” he said.
He called upon voters in Matungu to elect ODM candidate Hon David Aoko Were saying he has enough experience to develop the constituency.
“All candidates qualify to be elected but the remaining period is too short that requires somebody who has experience,” he said.
The Governor was accompanied by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Kakamega Women Rep Hon Elsie Muhanda, Shinyalu MP Hon Justus Kizito, MCAs among other leaders.
