President Ruto chaired an emergency Multi-agency meeting on floods in State House on Thursday.
The meeting was conducted shortly after the official opening of Bunge Towers.

Speaking at State House, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noted that the multi-agency Response team has been updated and that he shall be in Nyayo House from 4:00p.m this afternoon to conduct an assessment of floods countrywide and to initiate an intervention to save lives and property.
“All internally displaced persons will be facilitated to find alternative settlement. In extreme cases, the National Youth Service will provide shelter to the most vulnerable members of our society,” said Gachagua.
This is in line with President Ruto’s directive to NYS to provide land to facilitate the accommodation of members of society displaced by floods.

He urged all Kenyans to cooperate in the exercise for their safety. The Deputy President also affirmed the distribution of food and non-food items to the affected households.
He confirmed that he would be chairing a Committee on National Disaster Response incorporating all stakeholders including development partners and humanitarian agencies.
Gachagua urged all members of the public to exercise caution while traveling and for those in low lands to evacuate to higher grounds following the rains expected next week.
He affirmed that daily alerts will be issued to the public daily to keep them informed of weather updates and safety tips.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to keeping all Kenyans safe during this disaster and affirmed the government’s move to avail resources to mitigate the same.
