Ruto Insists On Housing Program, Says Other Countries Have Done It Too

President Ruto is currently hosting a joint National Executive Retreat and Parliamentary Group consultative meeting in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

A contingent of Kenya Kwanza government officials arrived in Naivasha on Sunday evening, ahead of the annual meeting chaired by the Head of State.

In a keynote speech, President Ruto insisted on the housing program. He criticized MPs from the government coalition opposing the Affordable Housing Program and also spoke of its benefits, explaining why it was necessary.

“We will implement the housing program. I don’t want to say by whatever means possible. I have just said we will implement it. We will because it is what other progressive countries have done. It has worked. It is not an invention.” he asserted.

He also asserted his administration’s commitment to successfully implementing the housing project, which has faced challenges in previous regimes.

“I don’t think there is anyone who needs persuasion on housing. Do we still have anybody who has any doubts, surely? For the places where housing projects have started in Ruiru, crime has gone down,” President Ruto said.

On February 16th, he directed MPs to pass the Affordable Housing Bill by Tuesday, tomorrow, so that Kenyan youth could get to work in construction.

This was during the launch of the Affordable Housing project in Nyeri Town and Irrigation projects in Mathira & Gatundu South Constituencies.

The ongoing retreat, which officially began today is set to last through to Wednesday, is aimed at reviewing Kenya Kwanza’s scorecard and highlighting key accomplishments since the administration assumed office in September 2022.
