President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ending abductions amid ongoing incidents across the Country.

While speaking in a town hall session in Kisumu County, President Ruto said he is not aware of any Kenyan abducted by the country’s security agencies during or after the Gen Z’s protest.

“Because as I talk to you today, I don’t have a single name of somebody who has been abducted or disappeared,” President Ruto said.

He therefore urged all families with lost kins or friends who disappeared mysteriously during and after anti-government protest to come forward and submit the names and details of the missing person to the Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

“If there is a family that their child or friend or relative went to a demonstration, whether it is last year or this year, and never came back, I want to know the names because I will take firm and decisive action,” he said.

He tasked the Principal Secretary for Interior to handle any case of a missing persons, follow up the matter until they are found.

“The PS for Interior, Raymond, is here. If you have the name of someone who went to the protests and is missing, their whereabouts unknown, we want their name; their family should come forward. Give this gentleman those names, we will deal with that situation,” he added.

“Because Kenyans have a right of association within the parameters of the law, and no Kenyan should be subjected to inhuman treatment because of their political persuasion,” the President added.

President Ruto went ahead to remind Kenyans on the promises he made during his Presidential campaigns during 2022 general elections and one of the promises was to end the era of extrajudicial killings and State abductions.

“Under my administration, I do not want a situation where a Kenyan disappears. There were days when bodies were found in River Yala,” President Ruto said.

He promised Kenyans that during his tenure as President of Kenya there will be no Kenyans in River Yala or any other place.
