Ruto’s Appointees to Foreign Service

President William Samoei Ruto today appointed several individuals to high ranks within the diplomatic service.

The senior ranks within the Public Service include positions for Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and permanent representatives in Kenya’s Embassies/High Commissions/Missions abroad.

According to a press release by State House’s spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, the presidential action was subject to parliamentary approval processes.

The president appointed Ms. Catherine Kirumba Karemu, Hon. Joash Arthur Maangi, Hon. Lilian Tomitom, Hon. Vincent Mogaka Kemosi, Ms. Caroline Kamende Daudi, and Lt. Gen. Peter Mbogo Njiru as High Commissioners for London, United Kingdom, Kampala, Uganda, Lusaka, Zambia, Accra, Ghana, Ottawa, Canada and Islamabad, Pakistan respectively.

The Novice ambassadors include Hon Fred Outa, (Egypt), Prof Anne Kisaka Nanguli (Dakar, Senegal), Mr. Timothy Kaluma Mcharo (Algiers, Algeria), Hon. Christopher Andrew Lang’at (Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire), Ms. Jessica Muthoni Gakinya (Rabat, Morocco)

Other ambassadorial appointments are for the following countries: The Hague, Netherlands, Washington DC, USA, Havana, Cuba, Moscow, Russia, Tokyo, Japan, Abu Dhabi, UAE, Tehran, Iran, and Muscat, Oman.

The newly appointed ambassadors for the aforementioned countries include Hon. Halima Yussuf Mucheke, Mr. David Kiplagat Kerich, Ms. Everylyne Mwenda Karisa, Dr. Peter Mutuku Mathuki, Amb. Moi Lemoshira, Mr. Kenneth Milimo Nganga, Lt. General Jonah Mwangi, and Mr. Abdi Aden Korio respectively.

Four representatives to the United Nations have been selected including Ms. Gertrude N. Angote (UNEP), Ms. Grace Atieno Okara (UN HABITAT), Dr. Fancy Too who is also the ambassador to Geneva, Switzerland, and Mr. Ekitela Erastus Lokaale (UN, New York USA)

The president has also appointed 11 Deputy heads of missions in Uganda, South Africa, Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, the USA,( Washington DC),  Brazil, Tel Aviv, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Los Angeles, USA.

The deputies, in their respective roles, encompass, Mr. Suleiman Ibrahim RobaMr. Sunya Morongei Orre, Hon. Petronila Were, Bishop (Dr.) Joseph Warui, Ms. Rose Sumbeiywo, Mr. Kipkosgei Toroitich, Mr. Christopher Kirigua, Amb. Peris Kariuki, Mr. Jon Chessoni, Ms. Saadia Salim and Ms. Akinyi Walkowa.

Mr. Ezra Chiloba, Mr. Charles Githinji Keiru, Mr. Aden Mohamud Mohamed,  and Mr. David Iboko Lokemer, have been appointed as the Consul-General for Los Angeles, USA, Goma, DRC, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai, UAE.

Mr Philip Omondi Thigo was nominated as the Special Envoy on Technology.  Lastly, four nominations were made for Ministry Headquarters Ambassadorial Appointments.

Ms. Beatrice Nyakobe Ombachi Karago is the Director of Americas & Caribbean, Mr. Julius Kiptoo Bargoret (UNON), Ms. Jane Makori as the Deputy Director, of Asia & the Pacific, and Mr. Joseph Masila as the Director of Economic Affairs & Commercial Diplomacy.

According to the press statement, per Article 67 of the Treaty on Establishment of the East African Community, Ms. Caroline Mwende Mueke has been nominated by the Government of Kenya for potential appointment as the Secretary-General of the East African Community by the Summit of the Heads of State.

The President has submitted the nominations of High Commissioners, Ambassadors, and Permanent Representatives to the National Assembly.

These nominations are subject to consideration and approval by Parliament, aligning with the legal mandates outlined in Kenya’s supreme law.
