The businessman and Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has been ordered to surrender himself to the nearest police station as officers’ raids his home in Muthaiga.

While addressing the media on Thursday evening outside Jogoo house in Nairobi Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, he acknowledged that police officers have raided Wanjigi’s home in Muthaiga for more investigations.

The businessman has been accused of funding the ‘Nane Nane’ anti-government protests and his car used to transport protesters to the Central Business District.

Jimi Wanjigi’s motorcade managed to escape from town and left to Muthaiga and the officers arrested one suspect while Jimi got into his home.

“There was one arrest and one motor vehicle managed to enter inside and they closed the gate. My appeal is that he surrenders to the nearest police station whatsoever,” Gilbert Masengeli said.

The acting Inspector General announced to the public that the officers chased Wanjigi’s motorcade towards Muthaiga 44 in Nairobi where the car carrying Safina Party leader made its way inside his residence and the gate closed while one Prado was left outside the gate.

“We wish to inform the public that today, we intercepted a personal motor vehicle Prado Model KDC 883R in Muthaiga, at the residence of Jimmy Wanjigi,” he said.

“In the vehicle, we have recovered 4 teargas canisters, two Motorola gadgets, seven assorted chargers for the pocket phones, and one mobile phone. Investigators are on the ground to ascertain more details,” he added.

He further said that the Police Service on Wednesday 7th August 2024 informed the country about security threats, whereby some criminals planned to infiltrate the ‘Nane Nane’ anti-government demonstrations to cause mayhem.
