Governor Sakaja has unveiled plans to renovate other recreational parks in Nairobi County besides Uhuru and Central Park.
During the State of the County address on Thursday, the county boss indicated that plans to renovate other parks to the level of Uhuru Park are currently underway.
” Ladies and Gentlemen, we intend to have such parks across the city, not just Uhuru Park. We must have such parks for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation of the mind body, and soul.”Stated Sakaja. He revealed that the county government of Nairobi has undertaken landscaping and maintenance of relaxation spots across the county.
He announced that the renovation of Central Park and City Park is currently underway with the county in the process of reclaiming City Park which was under the leadership of the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) during the tenure of the Nairobi Metropolitan Service. (NMS)
He also divulged plans to renovate Jevanjee Garden and Kamukunji Grounds within the next 18 months. Jacaranda grounds were also enlisted among the parks to be refurbished, with the governor of the opinion that both Jacaranda and Kamukunji grounds could be used for recreational purposes besides them being used for political rallies.
He additionally declared the county’s progress in beautification programs, with over 200,000 trees and flowers planted as part of the urban beautification initiative. He further noted that the county has distributed 655,000 seedlings across Nairobi as part of efforts to promote a greener city.
