Sanchez cancels Cavani goal to save a point for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez’s late equaliser was enough for Arsenal to escape the Parc des Princes with a 1-1 draw agianst Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday in the Champions League group stage.

The Chilean volleyed home in the 78th minute to snatch an equaliser for a Gunners side that had been second-best throughout the game.

Were it not for the brilliant goalkeeping of David Ospina and the horrendous finishing of Edinson Cavani, PSG would have been out of sight long before then.

Edinson Cavani glanced PSG ahead after 42 seconds and should have had a hat-trick before half-time, firing wide after rounding David Ospina before slipping to fluff a simple finish.

Edinson Cavani’s strike is the quickest goal Arsenal have conceded in the Champions League (42 seconds).

The result puts Arsenal in a strong position in Group A, with the other game in the section also ending in a 1-1 draw between Basel and Ludogorets Razgrad.
