Sarah Wairimu Kamotho appeared before the High Court of Kenya at the Kibera Law Courts, where she was charged with the murder of her spouse, Dutch billionaire Tob Chichou Cohen.
The charge, filed in accordance with Section 203 in conjunction with Section 204 of the Penal Code Cap 63 of the Laws of Kenya, alleges that the crime took place in 2019.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions the court heard that on the night of 19th and 20th July 2019, at Lower Kabete area within Nairobi County, the accused, jointly with others not before the court, murdered Tob Cohen.
Appearing before Hon. Lady Justice Diana Kavedza, Wairimu pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecution, represented by Sarah Ogweno, Peris Maina, Christine Timoi, Livia Gachanja, and Leon Wandera, supplied the court with Wairimu’s mental assessment report and requested time to file an affidavit opposing her release on bond.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP) on 23rd January 2025 directed Sarah Kohen Wairimu be charged with murder contrary to Section 203 as read with 204 of the Penal Code after she was found with a case to answer.
The DPP gave the direction after overwhelming evidence showing Ms. Wairimu murdered her husband Tob Chichou Cohen on the night of 19th and 20th July 2019 at Lower Kabete Area
The Accused was remanded pending bail Hearing February 3, 2025.
