Second phase of voter registration kicks off in various places

The second phase of voter registration officially kicked off today as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) target 6 million unregistered voters.

Politicians have been on the ground to encourage citizens with Identification cards to register as voters.

Both coalition leaders are expected to tour their strongholds to urge the citizens register as voters for 2017 general elections scheduled in August eighth this year.

Leaders appeal

Baringo County leaders have appealed to IEBC to provide mobile voter registration services to residents of Baringo County.

This is because most residents have abandoned their homes with their cattle in search of water and food.

Residents of the areas worst hit by drought including Baringo North, Mogotio and Baringo South sub counties have moved miles away from their homes and set camp on riverbeds where they are sinking deep wells in the dry valleys to keep up with disappearing water.
