The senate business committee which is the apex body of the senate are converging in Mombasa County for further induction to effectively discharge their mandate in fulfillment of the demanding duty of the legislature.
Addressing the press during the official opening of the induction deputy speaker Kathuri Murungi said the committee will focus on thematic areas among them mandate and legislative process, marshaling of the legislative business among others.
Kathuri said article 124(1) mandates each house of the parliament namely the Senate and the National assembly, to establish committees, draft standing orders for the orderly conduct of its proceedings and those of its committees with the weighty mandate of the committee the induction will ensure their actions and decisions go a long way in cementing the noble ideas the senate of the republic of Kenya.
Kathuri reiterated that Kenyans have high expectations and as legislatures are committed to finding lasting solutions to problems affecting the nation among them, harsh economic times, adverse effects of climate and un employment.
Leader of majority in the senate Aaron Cheruiyot said senate business committee is the most critical decision making body of the house hence the country drawing better values upon checking laws enacted by parliament.
On the issue of the stand-off being experienced in Meru county between the governor Kawira Mwangaza and Members of the County Assembly the senators have called on the leadership of the County and other leaders to have a seating and put the matter to rest.
