Senator Omtatah Races To Stop Changes Under The 2023 Finance Bill

Busia Senator Okiya Omtata has moved to court in a bid to stop the enactment of the 2023 Finance Bill. The Senator argued that the bill was unconstitutional.

In a recent speech, Omtatah stated that upholding the constitution was bigger than the friendship shared with President Ruto. The senator cautioned the president to be wary of those in his inner circle who are misleading him.

Nonetheless, the president maintained that the bill holds the best interests of Kenyans.

The president asserted that the courses of action proposed in the bill were meant to save the currently ailing economy.

The proposed Housing Fund in the Finance Bill 2023 received opposition from Kenyans and various stakeholders during the public participation stage that ended on Monday.
