Seven Arrested for Counterfeit US Dollar Operation in Nairobi

In a significant crackdown on counterfeit currency, officers from the National Police Service, stationed at the Central Police Station, have apprehended seven individuals in Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the raid was executed based on actionable intelligence.

“The suspects include Manyara Aroon Nicas, a Tanzanian national, and Abbott Antony, a Congolese national, alongside four Kenyans: Mongele Wambura, James Ngugi, Justus Alubokho Opulu, and Mary Mumbi,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed.

“They were taken into custody following a well-executed raid at Travellers House in Ngara,” DCI added.

Upon searching the premises, authorities uncovered a substantial cache of counterfeit US currency, consisting of thirty-six bundles, as well as two plastic replicas resembling USD notes and black paper mimicking currency. Various other items related to the counterfeit operation were also seized.

The suspects are currently in custody and are being processed as they await their court appearance.
