Shock and grief have engulfed a village in Thika, Kiambu County after a student allegedly brutally murdered his girlfriend before hanging himself.
The body of the slain middle-aged girl was found inside a rental house at Majengo village bearing knife injuries on the neck and on the hands while that of the man was found hanging on the roof of the same house.
It is believed that the man, 29, slit his girlfriend’s throat and stabbed her severally before taking his own life.
The two who are reported to be medical students at different higher learning institutions in Thika town are said to have been having constant quarrels that sometimes turned into physical fights.
Recently, neighbours said that the two have been embroiled in a serious scuffle which could have resulted in the murder.
According to neighbors, the two were heard fighting on Sunday but the commotion immediately stopped after a while.
A stinking smell from the house that the two were living in stirred questions among the neighbours who reported the matter to police before the two were confirmed to have died.
Stephen Kamau, a neighbour said the two had not married but have been in an intimate relationship for a while.
Maureen Wambui, a neighbour urged youngsters to keep off messy relationships to avoid ending up being killed.
The bodies of the two were taken to General Kago mortuary as investigations into the matter kicked off.
