Simiyu confirmed as the new 7s coach

Innocent Simiyu, the former sevens captain, and 15s skipper, has been confirmed as the Kenya 7s head coach to take over from Benjamin Ayimba.

Simiyu ( Namcos) confirmation took place on Monday, and he was confirmed by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU).

The former Africa Leopards player captained Kenya Sevens team in from 2006 to 2008 under coach Benjamin Ayimba, the man he is replacing.

Simiyu played 121 matches on World Rugby Sevens Series (formerly IRB Word Series) scoring 320 points. He scored 58 tries and 15 conversions. He received two yellow cards and a red card in his sevens career.

In other nominations, Kevin Wambua was appointed as the head coach for Women 7s with Jimmy Mnene being nominated as the team Manager for Under 19s.
