The 2017 Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) fixtures are out and contrary to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) declaration demoting Sofapaka FC and Muhoroni Youth FC, the two clubs have been included in the fixtures.
The fixtures for the season, sent to media houses by the SPL Secretariat, denote that the season will kick off on February 11th with eight matches on the cards, the first being Bandari versus Kariobangi Sharks at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.
In the fixtures, Zoo Kericho, Nakumatt FC, Vihiga United and KCB, who were promoted by the FKF on the basis of compliance with the club licensing, are conspicuously missing with the fixtures leaning back to the 16 team – league that has been the norm.
Sofapaka is scheduled to take on Ulinzi Stars in the opening fixture on 15th February while Muhoroni Youth has been paired with Western Stima for the opening fixtures.
In the other matches, Chemelil Sugar will start it off with Sony Sugar as Kakamega Homeboyz takes on Gor Mahia in Mumias both on 11th February.
On 12th February, Mathare United will be taking on Thika United as AFC Leopards face off with Nzoia United.
