The incoming Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan to Kenya, His Excellency Anthony Majok Kon Kuc, paid a courtesy call to Kenyan authorities as he officially begins his diplomatic mission in Nairobi.

The meeting was an important gesture of goodwill and a reaffirmation of the long-standing ties between the two neighboring nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kon Kuc and his host engaged in constructive discussions on how to further strengthen bilateral relations between South Sudan and Kenya.

The talks focused on key areas of mutual interest such as cross-border trade, security cooperation, infrastructure development, and the role of both nations in fostering peace and stability in the East African region.

Both sides expressed a shared commitment to deepening collaboration through regional platforms such as the East African Community (EAC) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

They also discussed the need to remove existing barriers that hinder economic growth and people-to-people connections across the borders.

The Kenyan host warmly welcomed the ambassador and wished him success in his new posting, noting that his arrival comes at a critical time when regional integration and diplomatic engagement are vital for sustainable development.

Ambassador Kon Kuc expressed gratitude for the reception and conveyed South Sudan’s readiness to work closely with Kenya in pursuit of mutual prosperity and peaceful coexistence.

The visit underlined the strategic importance of Kenya–South Sudan relations, particularly in fostering regional peace, supporting post-conflict recovery in South Sudan, and enhancing infrastructure links like the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor.

As both nations continue to collaborate on diplomatic and development fronts, Ambassador Kon Kuc’s appointment is expected to inject new energy into efforts aimed at promoting unity, trade, and cooperation across East Africa.

His visit marks a promising beginning for enhanced engagement and enduring friendship between Kenya and South Sudan.
