This morning, the Parliament of Kenya hosted the 22nd National Prayer Breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, under the theme “Rise and Rebuild.”

The event, graced by H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, leaders, legislators, clergy, and dignitaries from across the world, offered a solemn space for reflection, unity, and renewed purpose.

“I urge fellow leaders to rise above personal interests and embrace a higher calling of service, moral leadership, and national unity. Rebuilding Kenya is not the work of government alone; it begins with our hearts, our values, and our collective duty as custodians of this great nation,” said Speaker Wetangula.

Speaker Wetangula’s speech emphasized the collective duty of Kenyans to elevate the country, prompting self-reflection to address the nation’s condition effectively.

It underscores the importance of a value system rooted in respect, truth, love, justice, dignity, hard work, and equality.

Drawing inspiration from Nehemiah 2:18, Speaker Wetangula called for rebuilding the spiritual, economic, moral, and political foundations of the republic. This involved matters of the heart, mind, and spirit, requiring unity, faith, integrity, fidelity, and hope in God’s providence.

His speech acknowledged the government’s efforts to ease the cost of living, manage public debt, and create opportunities for the youth, urging support for these initiatives. Parliament’s commitment to supporting economic transformation, job creation, spiritual reform, and the protection of vulnerable citizens is reaffirmed.
