Speaker Wetangula Calls For Perseverance, Resilience

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula urged the nation to embrace patience and hope in their efforts toward nation-building.

Addressing attendees on Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at the National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel Nairobi, Speaker Wetang’ula emphasized the significance of continuing progressive endeavours aimed at enhancing stability across all sectors of the country.

“Those who have no hope have no future because its hope that keeps us alive. As a nation we must hold very fast to hope when we are faced with any adversity and as leaders we must inspire hope to the people for a better future,” Hon. Wetang’ula said.

He urged the congregation to persist in praying for the country’s restoration, noting that a nation on the rise often encounters challenges aimed at reconstructing it for advancement.

“As a country, we must live with hope knowing that nothing lasts forever but there will be something better all the time as reflected in the words of Mathew 11:26, that with God all things are possible,” he added.

The 21st Annual National Prayer Breakfast of this year centred on the theme of hope, convened the nation’s top leadership alongside high-level delegations from across the region and around the world.

During his vote of thanks, Dr. Wetang’ula encouraged the nation to hold onto prayer, emphasizing that Kenya is a nation with a strong tradition of prayer.

He reiterated that Kenya is a resilient nation with robust values that need to be nurtured for its greatness.

“Any of you who has been fading in your hope, renew, rekindle, rejuvenate and redirect your hope to a better future. Our future depends on what we do today. May our choices reflect our hopes, not our fears,” he encouraged.

“I thank Members of Parliament for making this Annual Prayer Breakfast part of our calendar to show our country and our people that in God we trust and in prayer, we shape our future,” the speaker said.

He affirmed that regardless of political or religious differences, the well-being and progress of the nation should be a shared endeavour.
