State Department Hosts India National Defence College Delegation

The State Department for Foreign Affairs hosted a group of participants from the India National Defence College who are visiting Kenya as part of a study tour.

Ambassador Josphat Maikara EBS, Acting Director General for Political and Diplomatic Affairs, welcomed the delegation on behalf of Dr. A. Korir SingOei, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, at the State Department headquarters.

The 64th course of the India National Defence College consisted of 17 participants from various countries such as Brazil, India, Oman, Nepal, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The delegation was led by Air Marshal Hardeep Bains, Commandant of the National Defence College India.

Ambassador Josphat Maikara expressed gratitude for having Kenya chosen as a destination for the course participants, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral and diplomatic relations between Kenya and India.

Mr. Maurice O. A. Okoth, Director for the Asia and Pacific Directorate at the State Department for Foreign Affairs, made a presentation to the participants on Kenya’s foreign policy orientation and practices.

The presentation highlighted the pillars of Kenya foreign policy and key aspects of Kenya –India bilateral and diplomatic relations.

The event was coordinated in collaboration with the Foreign Service Academy of the State Department for Foreign Affairs, the Kenya Ministry of Defence, and the Indian High Commission in Nairobi, represented by Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Rohit Vadhwana and Defence Attaché Captain V. Shirdikant.
