UDA chairman Johnson Muthama and MPs allied to DP William Ruto have come out to strongly condemn the use of police force and brutality in campaigns by police force in the recent past.
Recently this was witnessed in London ward with leaders being teargassed and also in Machakos campaigns where the UDA candidate and campaigns are being interfered by the police before time.
Muthama also cited government using provincial administration to campaign for wiper candidate in Machakos pointing an accusing finger saying that they are public servants and should not be involved in politics.
He added that as UDA chairman he won’t accept intimidation leveled against Susan Kihika and Hon Kimani Ngunjiri saying that as a party they are strongly condemning such incidents as it happened in London ward in Nakuru.
The bitter UDA chair pointed an accusing finger to Administrators being used to disrupt and interrupt campaigns should stop this intimidation.
Outspoken Machakos MP, Dr. Victor Munyaka, said that there is selective application of the law as the government is targeting the leaders allied to Deputy President.
Munyaka has said supporters and friends of the Deputy President are being intimidated and threatened by police adding that it is a sorry state for government to target all leaders allied to the Deputy President.
Munyaka added that in Machakos there is use and misuse of National and County government machinery in the ongoing Machakos senatorial seat campaigns.
Mwala MP, Engineer Vincent Musyoka condemned the incident in London ward adding that the government seems scared by the newly formed UDA party and allies of DP William Ruto.
“It seems like a trend growing across for panic and fear as it seems police is determined to disrupt campaigns and use force for candidates not aligned to the state” Musyoka added.
The Mwala legislator added that Kenyans should be given equal playing ground. Musyoka cited Machakos saying that the wiper candidate is using the government resources to campaign with government officers being also used.
The UDA senatorial candidate Albanus Muthama Ngengele added that they were being treated unfairly in campaigns and asked for fairness in the campaigns.
If elected Ngengele promised that he will protect county resources and serve the Machakos residents without favour or discrimination.
The leaders were accompanied by former Assistant minister Hon Peter Kaindi who said that IEBC has been biased in its works with unfairness in recruitment of polling clerks and also condemned the events and activities that are happening
The leaders spoke after having a closed door meeting in Machakos.
