Struggling Boro part ways with Aitor Karanka

Middlesbrough have confirmed the sacking of manager Aitor Karanka.

His assistant, Steve Agnew, has taken over the task of keeping us up.

“Middlesbrough Football Club can today confirm the departure of Head Coach Aitor Karanka. Following discussions, both parties have agreed that it is in the best interests of the club to make this change,” read the club statement.

“The club would like to thank Aitor for all his hard work over the past three-and-a-half years and for the success we’ve had during that time. We wish him all the best for the future.

Boro have only won four games all season — the most recent a 3-0 win over Swansea in December. They have also beaten Hull, Bournemouth and Sunderland and lost 13 of their 22 games.
