Students demand justice for colleague

Kenya University Students Organization, Western and Nyanza Chapter, has shown outrage over the abduction and killing of university student, Sharon Otieno claiming it focused on the deceased’s moral chastity.

The chapter leaders further claimed the social debate portrayed women  victims of murder as driving themselves to their own destruction.

Addressing the media in Kisii, the chapter secretary Frenzy Chepkemboi urged the society to pay attention to the perpetrators of  murder and justice to the victims.

She said  moral uprightness should never  be used  to measure murder in women since it trivialized them as human beings.

Peter Kinyanjui, the chairman challenged Sharon’s suspected killers to step aside if they were public servants to pave way for speedy investigations and prosecution.

Kinyanjui told the authorities to ensure the culprits were brought to book or the students will stage mass actions to press for the same.

The chapter ’s finance secretary, Byron Onyango, alleged some university students had been killed with impunity in the  past  and said they demanded respect and protection of their lives.

He said according to them, it did not matter who committed the murder, but that he/she has faced the full force of the law for dramatic justice.

The body of Sharon Otieno a second year student at Rongo University, was found dumped at  Kodera a forest in Homabay county in what was  suspected to be an abduction  owing a  love gone awry.

A Daily Nation reporter,Barrack Otieno,  also in the same trap, managed to break free  but  sustained  injuries.
