According to the report, the suspect and accomplices allegedly claimed to be enforcing the bylaws of the County Government of Mombasa.

This led to the torture and physical assault of the complainants at the Mombasa County Inspectorate offices located in Tudor.

Following an order to produce issued by Mombasa Law Courts, Omar Ali Mohamed alias Nyanya was brought before the court to respond to charges of Torture contrary to Section 5 (1) of the Prevention of Torture Act No. 12 of 2017.

The accused was returned to remand where he awaits the determination of his bond application on blogger Bruce Khajira’s case on Friday 15, 2024.

The presiding magistrate set this date following the prosecution’s assertion that Omar poses a flight risk and may interfere with ongoing investigations.

Omar Ali is one of the prime suspects in the September 12 abduction and subsequent sexual harassment of blogger Bruce John Khajira aka Chawa – 001.
