In a swift operation, Bamburi Police officers have arrested a suspected gang member, seizing a loaded Ceska pistol from his possession.
According to the police reports the suspect, identified as Stephen Mutunga Kimeu, 43, was apprehended along Old Malindi Road following a tip-off from the public.
“The suspect, Stephen Mutunga Kimeu, 43, was apprehended in Bamburi while walking along old Malindi road.
Residents had reported a suspicious individual who appeared to be armed, prompting the police to take immediate action. Officers intercepted Kimeu and conducted a quick body search, uncovering a Ceska pistol with serial number G4151 (KE KP G4151). The firearm was found ready to fire, loaded with five rounds.
“Further examination revealed that the firearm was ready and loaded with five rounds,” added DCI.
In addition to the weapon, police recovered an ID card bearing Kimeu’s name, an Itel phone, and two bus tickets for a journey to Lamu.
Kimeu was immediately taken into custody and is currently being held at Bamburi police station.He is expected to face charges related to illegal firearm possession and gang activity in court.
