In a significant breakthrough, police officers from Baraka Police Station in Rongai Sub-County have apprehended a 19-year-old suspect, Ezekiel Kwame Mwangi, believed to be behind a series of brutal murders that have terrorized the local community.
Mwangi, who has been on the police radar for some time, is suspected of orchestrating a string of heinous crimes, leaving a trail of violence and fear in his wake.
“Mwangi is believed to be the mastermind behind several heinous crimes,” explained the DCI.
His alleged reign of terror began on July 14, 2024, when he is accused of defiling and murdering five-year-old Alice Ayuma Blessing.
“On July 14, 2024, he allegedly defiled and murdered five-year-old Alice Ayuma Blessing, dumping her body in a maize plantation in the Mwangaza area,” added the detectives.
The child’s body was later discovered dumped in a maize plantation in the Mwangaza area, a crime that sent shockwaves through the community.
The horror did not stop there. On August 7, 2024, Mwangi is suspected of killing 34-year-old Mueni Mwalimu in Kalyet.
According to police reports, he allegedly struck Mwalimu on the head with a blunt object before stabbing her in the stomach, resulting in her tragic death.
“On August 7, 2024, in Kalyet, he is suspected of killing 34-year-old Mueni Mwalimu by striking her on the head with a blunt object and stabbing her in the stomach,” the DCI further explained.
Just a day later, on August 8, 2024, Mwangi is believed to have committed yet another gruesome crime.
This time, at Mustard Seed in Kiamunyi, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, he allegedly raped and murdered 28-year-old Moraa Mugambi.
“The following day, on August 8, 2024, at Mustard Seed in Kiamunyi, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, Mwangi allegedly raped and murdered 28-year-old Moraa Mugambi by hitting her on the head with a rungu,” noted the DCI.
The victim was reportedly struck on the head with a rungu (a traditional club), leading to her death.
The arrest of Mwangi marks a critical turning point in the investigation, bringing relief to the residents of Nakuru County, who have been living in fear since the spate of murders began.
Authorities are now conducting further investigations to gather more evidence and piece together the full extent of Mwangi’s alleged criminal activities.
Mwangi is expected to face multiple charges, including murder, sexual assault, and other related offenses.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice is served for the victims and their families.
The arrest underscores the importance of community vigilance and the tireless efforts of the police force in maintaining law and order.
