Three suspects were arrested by Police in Gatundu South, Kiambu County with crude weapons
The suspects were allegedly found aboard a vehicle which was loaded with crude weapons in Ichaweri Village.
The arrest followed a tip off by the voters participating in the Jubilee primaries.
The Toyota Noah car in which the suspects were moving around was also impounded.
According to the residents, the suspects may have been planning to disrupt the Jubilee primaries
Among the weapons found were wooden batons and slashers, which were all new.
Campaign materials bearing names of some three aspirants for the constituency’s seat were also found in the car which had its rear bumper and number plates removed.
Police are seeking to establish who among the three candidates was behind the incident and what the motive was.
Witnesses told journalists that the suspects were in a convoy of close to ten vehicles.
Former Gatundu South MP Moses Mwihia said residents became suspicious of the convoy since the occupants of the cars were unruly.
After realising that they had been cornered, most of the suspects escaped d but the three were unlucky.
