Taj Mall owner vows to sue government if mall is demolished

Embakasi’s Taj Mall owner, Rameshchandra Govind Gorasia, has vowed to sue the government should the mall be brought down in the ongoing crackdown on buildings built on riparian land.

Gorasia has pleaded with the president to instead turn the building into a school, market, or even a hospital rather than destroying it. Speaking to reporters on site today, Gorasia denied the abounding speculation that the property belongs to the Deputy President William Ruto.Taj Mall has been earmarked for demolition after a public outcry for having been built in close proximity to the public’s Outering Road.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning has issued the demolition notice giving tenants until 30th August to vacate the premises.
