The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has resulted in retaining teachers in school after form ones to form three, together with class one to class seven, close schools to pave way for form four exams and class eight national exams respectively.
This was communicated through circular 18/2016 dated October 3rd, 2016 which was addressed to all principals in secondary schools and Primary School Headteachers.
“As you are aware, schools will close on 28th October, 2016. The form Four (4) and standard eight (8) students will, however, remain to do their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) Examinations respectively,” read part of the statement.
TSC directed all teachers to be present within the school to ensure that the curriculum implementation does not fall short with head teachers tasked to ensure that all teachers will be on duty during that period.
“During this period ALL the teachers are required to be on duty to carry out their school programmes touching on curriculum implementation. Heads of institutions are therefore required to ensure that teachers are on duty during this period,” read another part of the statement.
TSC requested County Directors to ensure that the directives as per the circular are compiled with.
