Deputy County Commissioner, Nyandarua west sub-county, Mr. Geoffrey Taragon, has warned teachers against examination malpractices and drunkenness to avert exam irregularities.
Addressing examination centre managers, supervisors and invigilators at Ol Joro orok CDF hall, Mr. Taragon also warned teachers against any involvement in exam irregularities as well as misconduct that would result in a criminal offense.
Citing an incident in which a centre manager returned the exams without sealing the envelope, the administrator said they would be suspended or demoted in a bid to streamline the ministry that has adopted a multi-agency approach in delivering.
Echoing the same sentiments, area TSC Director Winnie Strong urged principals to scrutinize the teachers appointed as supervisors and invigilators to ascertain their suitability for the exercise, noting that perpetual lateness and drunkenness will not be tolerated.
Nyandarua west sub- county police commander, Mr. Wanyama Nyongesa warned teachers against showing up at the exams centres late or while drunk.
On his part, Sub- county Director of Education, John Peter Maina urged the centre managers and supervisors to find out the whereabouts of the students.
Examination Officer, James Muchiri noted that in case a student depicts covid-19 symptoms he/she should be isolated in a different room for easy monitoring while going on with their exams.
The national exams are scheduled to kick off nationally on March 26, with Home science practical exams set to start on March 18.
