Telkom appoints Pattabiraman as CFO

Telkom Kenya has added another former Safaricom employee to its employment kit.

Sundararaman Pattabiraman was appointed as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to bolster the company’s senior management team as the exodus of France Telkom-backed executives continues at Orange Kenya.

While serving in Safaricom Limited, Pattabiraman was the Head of Finance, Planning and Analysis.

He has replaced François Bresson who resigned from the company.

He joins John Barorot, former Chief Technical Officer at Safaricom, who was appointed CTIO at Telkom Kenya.

“I am extremely pleased to have Mr. Pattabiraman lead our Finance functions and serve as our Chief Finance Officer,” says CEO, Telkom Kenya, Aldo Mareuse.

“He has distinguished himself as an exceptional leader with a proven track record. He has a strong knowledge of the Kenyan telecommunications market and has broad experience from both the market leader and challenger.”

Telkom Kenya Chief Executive Officer Aldo Mareuse said strengthening of the management team would steer the firm to new heights as it casts its sights on new business opportunities.

“Mr Pattabiraman has distinguished himself as an exceptional leader with a proven track record. He has a strong knowledge of the Kenyan telecommunications market and has broad experience from both the market leader and challenger,” Mr Mareuse said.

Safaricom controls 67.1 percent of the market followed by Airtel with 20.2 percent while Telkom Kenya accounts for 10.8 percent of the market, with the latter keen to shake up the market.
