The messaging app developers, WhatsApp, has added a new feature to the application especially for the groups.
The new shortcut, symbol @, allows the users to access all the contacts listed by the group either they manage or participate in.
To view the contacts, initially, one had to open the group and click on members to be able to see them but now things have been made easier.
After updating your WhatsApp to the newest version, key in or type at symbol (@) and wait for the contacts to load and pop up on the screen.
The new feature to the group chats that will send you notification of a group chat even after you have personally taken the pain of muting the group.
Now there is no escaping that annoying person who just never stops posting on a group. With the new update available for both Android and iOS, not to the desktop app, yet.
The new feature lets you tag a person using the ‘@’ symbol followed by the name of the contact on a group chat.
Multiple contacts can be tagged in a single message and everyone will receive a notification about it even if they have kept the group muted.
The tagging will work even if you don’t have that person on your contact list but is part of the same group as you.
Earlier, the app added the option of quoting messages so people know what exactly you are replying to. The maximum group size was also extended from 100 to 256 participants.
With this new tagging feature, the Facebook-owned messaging service is making it even easier to keep the conversation alive with multiple contacts. What it can’t do, unfortunately, is make people less annoying in group chats.
