Thika MP who has finally announced quitting deputy president’s UDA party urging people of the mountain not to be swayed by campaign euphoria but elect leaders from small regional parties to ensure control in parliament.
Speaking on his meet the people tour around his Thika constituency, Patrick Wainaina (wajungle) who is eyeing the Kiambu gubernatorial seat and who has been touted as Ruto’s point man says he would rather vie in Independent than the big parties as this will guarantee his freedom in decision making in parliament.
Wainaina however, said big parties campaign euphoria emotionally lead people into electing bad leaders adding that if people from Mt. Kenya region elect MPs from small parties in the region, they will have power to change laws in parliament without any interference from other quarters.
“If you vote for parties that are not from the region, the party leaders will be controlling what passes in parliament and favoring his region but if we elect leaders from our regional small parties, we shall have a big say in parliament because a nation is ruled by parliament”. Said Wainaina.
The Thika legislature however, defended the deputy president William Ruto over allegations that he never honored his pledge of Ksh. 5M he made to Bodaboda operators, Jua kali artisans and Mama mboga in Thika and Gatundu on his tour to the region saying the money was received and given to them with mpesa records as evidence.
The MP has been in the news with allegations that he quitted UDA because he was forced to dig deep into his pockets and paid the money after the deputy president failed to honour his pledge.
